York County continues preparing for mass COVID-19 vaccination

The York County Commissioners have been coordinating with the county’s two largest health providers
– WellSpan and UPMC – to facilitate mass distribution of the COVID-19 vaccine.

While the timetable is indeterminate, both health providers in York County are committed to getting the vaccine to the general public beyond Phase 1A as soon as possible.

Since demand is so much greater than supply of the vaccine, the Commissioners urge patience as federal, state and local officials prepare to get as many shots into as many arms as possible in the coming weeks and months.

The state Department of Health has launched Your Turn, aimed to help people know when they are eligible to receive the COVID-19 vaccine. People without internet access can call 1-877-PA-HEALTH for assistance.

Individuals can register for a MyWellSpan account to help with the appointment scheduling process. Qualifying individuals in the current phase, Phase 1A, can schedule an appointment using the MyWellSpan account in the “Schedule an Appointment” section.

UPMC looks forward to immunizing as many people as possible when vaccine becomes available. For more information about UPMC’s vaccine planning, visit UPMC.com/CovidVaccine. A patient hotline (1-833-299-4359) is available with a recorded message of the latest vaccine updates.

People can also contact their primary care physician or pharmacy to explore other options for getting vaccinated.

As details develop surrounding the county’s vaccine distribution, they will be posted to the county’s website, yorkcountypa.gov.
